Managing sensor outages and corrective actions (SFP 5.1)

When a sensor stops reporting or a fridge drifts out of range, Safe Food Pro alerts your team and creates a Corrective Action for it straight away. Your team resolves that task, and Safe Food Pro keeps a record of every outage and what was done about it, ready for your verification.

What happens when an outage is detected

  1. Safe Food Pro detects a connection outage (the sensor stopped sending readings) or a temperature outage (readings outside the equipment's expected range)

  2. Anyone with sensor outage notifications turned on is alerted by in-app notification or email

  3. A Corrective Action task is created automatically and linked to the sensor

  4. The task isn't assigned to anyone, so everyone on your team can see it and act on it in the Mobile App

  5. Someone on your team resolves the task in the Mobile App or in the Admin Console under Tasks

The completed task stays linked to the outage, giving you an audit trail of every outage and how it was handled.

Note: Automatic tasks are only created for outages that start after this feature was released. See Outages from before the update below.

Choose who gets outage notifications

Notifications are set per user. To turn them on, follow Setting up notifications for a user and enable the sensor outage notification.

Resolve an outage's corrective action

  1. Log in to the Admin Console

  2. Go to Tasks

  3. Open the Corrective Action for the outage. Its name starts with "Sensor outage -" followed by the equipment name

  4. Record what was done and complete the task

Your team can also resolve it from the Mobile App, since the task is available to everyone.

Tip: To give the task to a specific person, open it and assign it. Otherwise it stays available to the whole team.

View and export all outages

  1. Go to Dashboard > Sensors

  2. In Sensor connection and temperature outages, click View all outages

  3. Use Period, Type and Status to narrow the Sensor Outage Register

  4. To export, click the three dots in the top right and select Download outages as CSV

The register shows each outage's equipment, sensor ID, type, status, start and end time, duration, and how many alerts were sent. On the Sensors tab, each outage also shows its task status, for example TO DO.

Outages from before the update

Outages that started before this feature was released don't have a Corrective Action. These show an Add new Task icon instead of a task status. To create one:

  1. Go to Dashboard > Sensors

  2. In Sensor connection and temperature outages, click the Add new Task icon on the outage

  3. Check the pre-filled Task name and add a Description

  4. Click Next

  5. Set the Due date and Due time

  6. Click Next

  7. Click Create Task
