MPI Changes to Simply Safe & Suitable | August 2025

On 29 August 2025, MPI updated the Simply Safe and Suitable Template Food Control Plan (FCP). If your business is registered using a template FCP, you need to update your plan with some specific cards by 30 April 2026. 

The updated plan is numbered "v39-00005". Version numbers are printed on the front page of the plan.

What’s New?

• New “Making Biltong” Cards have been created, giving their own specialist section
• Updates to the following cards:
  • Checking the plan is working well 
  • Managing self-supplied water
  • Sourcing, receiving and storing food
  • Using water to control bugs
  • Using acid to control bugs
  • Hot smoking to control bugs
  • Making Chinese-style roast duck

What do you need to do?

Understand the changes and update your plan accordingly, either by:

• Swapping out the old individual cards relevant to your business with the new ones (links to the new cards are listed further down this page).
• Replacing your entire existing plan with the new plan (v39-00005).

If you are part of our S3 Group, you can find the new August 2025 template in your Resources folder under ‘MPI’. If you are part of another Group, you may need to update some of your documents.

To enable our new Biltong forms:

1. You will need to re-run our Food Business wizard.
2. Find this under My Business >> Food Plan Details >> Edit Food Rules
3. Go through the questionnaire and say yes to Making Biltong
4. Once this is complete, find our Biltong templates in your form library
